FÊTE DE L'ANGUILLE

The "Prud?homie des pêcheurs" (fishermen's association) and the town of Palavas are organizing the "Fête de l'anguille" (eel festival), which aims to promote eel fishing in the ponds of Palavas, as well as eel eating.

This age-old artisanal fishery uses nets called "capetchades", which have evolved very little over time. It is responsible and sustainable, and very respectful not only of the lagoon environment but also of species selectivity. It is therefore very important for fishermen such as Philippe Timothée (second Prud?homme) from Palavas that this species is recognized and promoted.

The festival will take place on the Canalette quays next to the arena, in front of the Tenchadou. The fishermen have designed the event to appeal to young and old alike, with workshops, games, musical entertainment, food stalls and a refreshment stand.

The fishermen themselves will be preparing eels in parsley sauce, which will be available for tasting (5 ?).
